About Courtney
Hello, I’m Courtney, an experienced educator with a true passion for science! I have been teaching in the public school system for 8 years now and have had great success with my students! I enjoy using various techniques to capture the attention of students.
I began my journey in education after completing a teacher education program at Alabama State University, where I majored in Health Education. This is where I learned so many amazing strategies to meet the needs of all learners!
My teaching career began teaching middle school science. I have taught all branches of middle school science, including physical science, life science, and earth/space science. My students have a track record of success on standardized exams. I integrate reading strategies into instruction, which is something that many young adults struggle with. Science questions are rooted in reading concepts. I emphasize the use of understanding the root of scientific words.
My own educational experiences have allowed me to gain knowledge and skills in teaching diverse student populations. Specifically, how to reach students through small-group or individualized instruction. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging with my students with fun and challenging problems. I am a certified middle grades science teacher in Georgia. I am experienced working with all types of learners.
