About Jocylin
I have been teaching weekly private music lessons to kids from the ages of 8-13 for 5 years. I teach beginner/intermediate level for flute, guitar, ukulele, and piano. currently have 4 students but when I move to MSM for college soon, unfortunately I will not be able to teach them anymore and am looking to teach kids in NYC, so this is the perfect opportunity! With my students, I create a personalized curriculum that pushes them to accomplish their goals while exploring their love for their instrument. I create a lesson plan with my students, communicate student's progress to parents, communicate with my students and parents about lesson times, arrange make up lessons if needed, plan out weekly lessons, create an accessible "practice plan" using google doc, and organize my teaching schedule.
In addition to working through books, I also teach my students how to integrate proper warmups and exercises into their daily practice, as well as basic theory. I strive for my students to have a holistic understand of their music and instrument, and to enjoy being able to make music!
