About Michael

Hello there,

I am Michael Font. My passion for teaching lies in creating with a student a strong and healthy vocal sound no matter what the genre. Be it Broadway or Opera as an instructor I also will teach how to project and play any emotion within a song both from a visual and internal perspective. I have over 8 years of stage experience in both Musical Theater and Opera. I also teach Creative Writing and Musical Composition.

I began as a choral conductor for Miami Children's Theater at their Coral Gables location. It was there that I found out I love to teach young people as well as people of all ages.

I have 8 years of experience as a Broadway and classical singer, both in solo and in choral settings. I have been to school for theatre and for opera, though my degree is in English. I know the audition system for many magnet programs in the area, and I am a product of the magnet school system.

About the lesson

I always begin with asking each student what their goals are for the next six months. Then I do an assessment of the student's abilities and together we focus on fixing and lifting the abilities to a higher goal.

I have worked with students from as young as 6 years old, to students as old as 21.

Look for someone you like. As a private voice instructor who has seen both ends of the spectrum, as a student find someone who is strict about musical discipline but can also be someone you can talk to openly about musical problems. A strong relationship between student and teacher is a must, especially with something as mental as the voice and theater work.

I am very proud of how my older students have stood out against other young people their age in their sense of theory and knowledge of how to blend in a choral setting.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be aware of your voice first and come with an open mind. Only then can you find out what questions to ask.
