I enjoy the story telling. I love telling stories without words and letting the listener pick their own words from the music I create. Also, I enjoy tweaking the sounds. Engineering is up there on my list of completing song. I believe every producer should know a little something about production.

I started on Udemy.com and after 3000 students I felt like this is good when times get slow.

I attended community college and took the music theory classes very serious. Then 30+ years as a musician songwriter and a Grammy nomintation.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I first like to gather information about their instincts. I like to know how much they know naturally and nurture their weaknesses.

I've worked with complete beginners on how music works and how to get a whole song from a small idea. Also, Begging beat makers, piano players, singers and beginning songwriters have learned from what I know. I've also worked with pros on writing a song with a time limit on it. Working with all types of students helps me keep my chops up.

A teacher knows their instrument. Weather it's their voice or piano, flute, guitar .....etc. They know the theory behind how popular music works. If a teach is self tought but doesn't know theory then your communication with other musicians and songwriters will be difficult.

I'm very fond of my submission to Tiny Desk by NPR. I got the whole band together and we performed a song I had written for TINY DESK. Oh it was so much fun.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
One should as themself if this is really what they want. Music is a lifetime of learning. You never stop learning. It's a rabbit hole that is very fullfilling. Also, ask your self if your going to let money stop you from learning. Your always going to go hear artist, workshops, pay producers, engineers....etc. If you are a person who wants things cheap but really good then this isn't the industry for you. Unless you know someone you get what you pay for.
