About Luisa
I am a student majoring in English and minoring in Linguistics at the College of William and Mary. I believe everyone learns at their own pace and should have the chance to find out what works best for them. Getting to know the students' interests and goals is important to get the most out of tutoring. I make a plan for each individual to encourage them and help them feel like they are making real progress.
I have always enjoyed helping my friends and peers. After class, we would get together and discuss the material covered that day. Usually, I would give simpler explanations or help them work out the problems again. I found it helpful for both of us to review and get a better understanding of what we had just learned. Seeing those I helped succeed brought me great joy and I realized I wanted to be a teacher. I want to share my enthusiasm for learning and make an impact on people however I can.

When meeting a new student, I ask where they are in the subject and what parts they want to go over more. I also try to get an understanding of their learning style and what goals they may have.
I have worked with students ages 6 to 12 in a variety of subjects including learning to read, writing, math, and spanish.
