About Valeria

I genuinely enjoy helping others and exposing them to knowledge and tools that can contribute to their personal growth. I am an empathetic person and love solving problems to help make life a little bit easier!

I have worked with both middle school and high school students. In my professional experience, I have also worked with customers to educate them on a service or product, and have mentored junior colleagues on my project teams. I love to share my knowledge and skills with others to help them succeed.

As a UX Designer, I have led and mentored junior colleagues on my teams.

In college, I tutored for two different organizations. As a first-year, I tutored middle school students from underprivileged backgrounds in an after-school program called Communiversity. I particularly enjoyed helping students improve their reading.

As a senior I tutored ESL students in a local middle school in Chapel Hill, NC. Before starting, I attended an ESL workshop where I learned how to approach learning English without using the students' native languages. My job as an ESL tutor was to help students better understand their homework from a variety of subjects including, math, reading, science, and social studies.

About the lesson

I will try to get to know the student a little bit and proceed to ask them about the subject and homework I will be helping them with. I will ask what they feel is challenging them and slowly work through the problem to determine the best approach to tutor them and let them know they can always ask questions or give me feedback. I will adjust my approach as I get to know the student's learning style.
