About Silvia

Native spanish speaker from Panama. I am a Junior-year college student in St Charles who enjoys to teacher other my native language. I have been an English tutor for 2 years already at my university, working with ESL students with 0 english skills. I am full of patiente and very friendly.

My ways to teach are simple. I get to know my students and their level of skill. We create a goal together, in an x amout of time. I like using jornals to assess and improve comprehention. Creative writing, conversational topics, vocabulary lessons, grammar, conversation appoiments and another bunch of activities. I like to get in touch with the four skills, writing, reading, speaking and listening.

I enjoy to transmit my culture to others, and language is a big chuck of it. I enjoy encouraging young and old students to excel in their education, enhance their skills and achieve success with this new challenge. I have 2 years od tutoring experience working with younger and older students, and one of the things I enjoy the most is that students help me to expand my knowledge. We cannot be experts on everything, and whenever a student has a question which i am not sure about the answer, we can learn together. The last thing and the most valuable for me is building new relationships. Of course, tutoring also gives the opportunity to build valuable relationships with new people. Make new friends, become a mentor figure and create a lasting impression in someone's life through tutoring relationship.

I started teaching way back when I was 16 in my high school as a physics tutor for a lower level class than me, just to get extra credits and I totally loved it.

I am a Spanish speaker, so I have study my language all my high school career, and I have spoken it my whole life.

I have been an ESL student's tutor for two years already, working with students from 16 years old being my youngest, and 48 years old being my oldets student.

I have gotten two safe college training programs, which teaches us how to approch students with different backgrounds, belives, sexuallity, culture and social skills.

About the lesson

My way to approch every student is different, and it depents on my student's social skills. Some students like to talk more than other, and some students already know what, how and when they want to do what. I always like to take the first meeting to get to know my student and their short and long term goals, so we can make a plan together.

I have worked for English with Asian students, Latin American students, Middle Eastern students, and some European countries students.

For Spanish I have worked with 3 Americans and 1 girl from Hungry.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What their goals are.Depeding on what you want to achive or what would you use the language for, the program should be different.

I am a college student, so my pricing is not going to be high due to the fact I am still studying.
