About Payton
I am an elementary special education teacher certified in elementary education and special education in cognitive and emotional impairments. It is a passion of mine to help students achieve the academic goals they set for themselves. I am currently teaching a self-contained classroom and a resource room for ages K-4 grade. I look forward to helping your student achieve their academic goals.
I enjoy being able to see the student be proud of themselves and make progress in the goals they set for themselves. Students often are har don themselves in areas they know they struggle in. Once you help build the confidence levels and show them they are capable of doing the work and they understand what they are learning, I love to see the light bulb that clicks.
I had an internship in high school with a preschool classroom for special education and fell in love with the teacher and how the students loved coming to school because of her. I vowed to be a teacher like she was.
I have students at Eastern Michigan University from September 2016-December 2020. I graduated with a teaching certificate in Elementary Special education in cognitive impairments and emotional impairments. I am certified to teach K-12 special education and K-8 general education.

When working with children, the first thing that has to be done is to build a relationship. The student needs to feel safe and comfortable with their teacher/tutor. Once the relationship is built the teacher is able to find the student's strengths and weaknesses.
I have worked with all students from ages K all the way to 11 and 12 graders.
