About Blakeley

I hold a Suzuki-inspired teaching philosophy which is centered around the student. I believe that everyone has ability and potential! I believe that learning a musical instrument can improve our quality of life and the quality of our character.

I have been teaching all ages and levels for about 10 years, and I love it! I am Suzuki certified, and have done extensive writing and research on teaching, pedagogy, and character development through music.

I bring energy and humor into every lesson, and am highly reliable, knowledgeable, and organized. I individualize my teaching based on each student's needs, goals, and abilities.

I can't wait to work with you!

I enjoy being a musician because it allows me to express myself, collaborate with others, and share my gifts with the world around me!

I enjoy being a music teacher because I get to help students set and accomplish goals, find and develop their individual voice, and gain confidence in themselves.

I started teaching because I loved my first teacher so much. She broke down every concept into fun, easy activities that led to tremendous results!

I have earned advanced degrees in Viola Performance (Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate), and have been certified in the Suzuki Method.

About the lesson

If a student is new to the instrument, physical comfort, stability, relaxation, and balance are of utmost importance from the beginning. These are important concepts for students of all levels, but especially at the start.

If a student has played the instrument for a while, but is a new student to me, I spend time reviewing pieces they have studied with the previous teacher as well as beginning some "fresh start" pieces. At this stage, it is important to identify and correct any bad habits and further develop strengths.

I have worked with students of all ages and levels! My youngest student ever was 4, and my oldest was 76! I have taught beginners, adult beginners, children, and college music students!

Bring a can-do attitude to every lesson, and make sure you feel safe and secure with your teacher!
