About Dr Jiyoung

Dr. Jiyoung Um is a graduate of The Juilliard School for both Bachelor and Masters Degree in Violin Performance. He has extensive teaching experiences including, Assistant Professor of Violin at Biola University, Assistant Teacher of Professor Hyo Kang at Juilliard Pre-College.

His solo performing experiences are worldwide including, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Scheonberg Hall, Crowell Hall, Merkin Hall (USA), Walter Hall (Canada), Sejong Center for the Arts (Korea), Municipal Teatro de Cali (Columbia), Talac Convention Center (Philippine).

Many of his students have been accepted to prestigious music schools including, Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, USC, UCLA.

Every year he prepares many Non-Music Major students for their college credential to be accepted colleges including, Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, Yale, UC Berkeley, and Columbia.

He teaches beginner through advanced level students. Both Online and Offline.

Taught as the Assistant Professor of Violin at Biola University.

Specialized in teaching students for College Entrance Auditions. (Both music major and non-music major)

Music major students have been accepted to renown music schools including Juilliard, Manhattan, Eastman, USC, UCLA, San Francisco Conservatory,…etc.

Non-music major students have been accepted to the top colleges in U.S. every year including Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Columbia, UC Berkeley.

Help students to develop diligence and good work ethic through instrumental learning (Continuous practice of good habits in studying and work ethics produce good results)

Help students to build outstanding music credentials for college.

Students have won various competitions and auditions including American Protegy International Strings Competition, Carnegie Hall Honor Performance Series, etc.
