About James

Hundreds of clients agree that I am one of the top voiceover training resources in the country. I treat each client according to their unique talents - voice, personality, goals and preferences - to help them discover if they have what it takes and what will make them desirable in today's voiceover market. First, I am a working voice talent with over 40 years experience. I have a variety of projects on my calendar every week; I enjoy sharing my current and past experiences with my clients. I also enjoy the privilege of getting to know a very diverse range of people who always teach me something and make my day a little brighter. Finally, I enjoy watching people grow with confidence and trust in their own abilities.

B.A. in English from Holy Cross, 40 years of writing, directing and producing radio and TV commercials, 40 years of voiceover work in nearly all genres including TV and radio, corporate and industrial, training, narration, and audiobooks.

About the lesson

First, get to know them as a person. Listen to them talk about themselves, their interests, passions and goals. Then explain what the voiceover industry is about and the various ways in which talent fits into it. Finally discuss the process of discovering what they do best through recording and listening so they can build on their stregths.

Deadly! I am still learning from Mr.Conlan currently, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. He is an excellent teacher and helps direct you towards areas of VO where you can succeed. Business knowledge and understanding of your strengths is something he provides so you don't waste time with fruitless endeavors. I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a voice over coach.
