About Zara

I love tutoring because I enjoy making a real difference to a student’s learning and confidence. One of the most rewarding things for me is seeing that moment when something finally clicks and a student begins to believe in their own ability.

I started tutoring as a way to build a career around family life and raising my own children, but over the years it has become something I genuinely love. I enjoy getting to know each student, understanding how they learn best, and helping them feel more confident and positive about their abilities.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring

I believe every student learns differently, so I take a personalised and supportive approach to my lessons. My aim is to help students not only improve their academic skills, but also build confidence and develop a positive attitude towards learning.

I use a combination of clear explanations, discussion, questioning, guided practice and tailored activities. In English and Humanities, I focus on developing strong reading, comprehension, writing and analytical skills, while encouraging students to think independently and express their ideas clearly.

For GCSE students, I can also provide focused support with exam technique, essay writing, analysing texts and preparing for assessments. I adapt the pace and level of each lesson according to the student's individual needs and goals.

Lesson length

Lessons are typically one hour, providing enough time to cover new material, practise skills and review progress without making the session feel overwhelming.

My experience

I have 5 years of experience as a tutor, supporting students across a range of abilities and learning needs. I am a university and Master's graduate and also have experience working in schools as a Cover Supervisor (Supply Teacher).

My school experience has given me a strong understanding of classroom learning, different student needs and the expectations placed on students at different stages of their education.

Who I teach

I teach English and Humanities from primary level through to GCSE. I work with students who may need additional support with their schoolwork, want to build confidence, improve their grades, develop their writing and analytical skills, or prepare for GCSE examinations.

Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to consolidate what they are learning in school, or is looking to challenge themselves further, I aim to create lessons that are structured, encouraging and tailored to them.
