About Cara

I am a violin tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. My training is rooted in classical techniques, providing a strong foundation for all levels of learners. I help students explore modern expression through the violin, blending tradition with creativity. My lessons focus on bowing technique, vibrato, phrasing, and musical interpretation. Students learn to express emotion and style across Classical, Contemporary, and Cinematic repertoire. I also guide learners preparing for ABRSM and Trinity exams, ensuring they are confident and well-prepared. Experience in orchestral coaching allows me to teach ensemble skills, listening, and collaboration. Each session combines technical exercises, repertoire, and performance practice to strengthen both skill and artistry. I encourage students to experiment with musical expression while respecting classical foundations. My goal is to help students develop a versatile, expressive, and confident violin technique. Whether preparing for exams, performances, or personal growth, lessons are tailored to individual goals. I invite students to join me in a journey that combines tradition, creativity, and the joy of making music.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping students develop a strong foundation in violin while making learning engaging and enjoyable. I emphasise bowing control, intonation, tone development, musical expression, and proper posture from the very first lesson. Each session is structured to build technique while encouraging creativity and personal expression. I support learners in developing confidence, whether they are exploring violin casually or performing in groups. Lessons include exercises for precise finger placement, smooth bowing, and expressive phrasing. Musicality and interpretation are always highlighted, helping students convey emotion through their playing. I incorporate practical techniques to strengthen ear training, rhythm, and sight-reading. Students benefit from tailored guidance that challenges them at their level while celebrating progress. Group-oriented skills, such as blending with others and following musical cues, are integrated for ensemble readiness. I also focus on posture, ergonomics, and healthy practice habits to ensure long-term growth. Each lesson combines structured exercises, repertoire, and performance practice. My goal is to help students excel technically and artistically while fostering a lifelong love for the violin.
