About Annie

In December 2016, I qualified as an ESL teacher by completing the CELTA course at CES (Center for English Studies) in Edinburgh. The CELTA qualification allows me to enter the field of teaching EFL to adults internationally and, therefore, the possibility of continuing my trips while I teach. More importantly: the opportunity to help more and more people broaden their horizons. The acronym stands for Certificate in English Language Teaching for Adults and is validated by the Local Examination Union of the University of Cambridge, which establishes the guidelines and criteria for the centres that offer these courses. The entrance sessions during the course were devoted to methodology, language awareness, phonology and lesson preparation. The course also included opportunities to observe qualified teachers and teaching practices at three different levels. Teaching practice classes were judged and observed by qualified peers and teachers (DELTA). In February of 2017, I started working at CES and teaching quickly became my new passion. Although students come from all over the world, classes are usually dominated by speakers of Italian, Spanish, French and German, aged between 12 and 80 years. Their English levels vary from pre-intermediate, intermediate, intermediate high and advanced. My classes focus mainly on business English and conversation, along with an introduction to British culture. From January until now, I've with all levels and ages in an amazing school in Seville, Spain. Learning Spanish meanwhile has led me to emphasize even more with my students. Knowing where the language struggles and errors are coming from. This experience has further improved my skills and understanding of students needs.

About the lesson

My methodology depends on the person, their goals and desires. In the first class I want to know the student and his goals. I usually discover the points that the student better manages and the ones he needs to practice. This involves speaking, listening, writing and reading (receptive and productive skills). I focus mainly on pronunciation, phonology and sentence structure to get more fluency. Depending on the student's objectives, I can involve listening, writing, reading and grammar exercises, as well as tasks. I like to monitor the progress of the student to assess the development of it. In each class, I test the knowledge of the lessons, memory, accuracy and fluency supposedly obtained in previous classes to ensure gradual progress of the student and avoid stagnation. ***Available; Monday to Friday 07.00 am - 14.00 pm. Deadly! I have been taking classes with Annie for over a year and she has undoubtedly been the best English teacher I have ever met. Annie recognizes the needs of each student and focuses her classes so that the student can improve the language. His classes are dynamic and very well prepared, which will allow you to learn the language easily and in a fun way. Annie ha sido mi profesora de Inglés conversacional vía Skype por ya casi 5 meses, al principio estaba yo algo escéptico sobre tener clases a través de una videollamada, pensé que sería algo aburrido estar frente a la computadora, pero Annie hace que cada minuto sea realmente increíble. Después de este tiempo he conseguido confianza al hablar y ahora puedo comunicarme bastante bien.
