I had the pleasure of being taught English Literature by Donna, and I can honestly say that she made a lasting impact on both my academic journey and my confidence.

What I appreciated most about Donna’s teaching was her patience, encouragement, and ability to make learning engaging and meaningful for me, as not many people could do this for me.

She not only helped me develop a deeper understanding of English Literature but also encouraged me to think critically, express my ideas with confidence, and believe in my own abilities.

Donna is much more than an excellent tutor. She is a dedicated, inspiring, and supportive teacher who genuinely cares about her students’ progress and personal development. I am incredibly grateful for the confidence she helped me build and the belief she instilled in me. I would wholeheartedly recommend Donna to any student looking for a tutor.

I would highly recommend Donna as an English tutor. Donna has been tutoring my son, Austin, who is currently in Year 11, since May, and we have been really pleased with the support she has provided.

What I appreciate most about Donna is her thoughtful, personalised approach to teaching. She always takes the time to find out what Austin is currently studying at school and tailors each lesson accordingly. Her experience as a teacher, combined with the wide range of resources she uses, means she explains things in a clear and accessible way, making even the more challenging aspects of English easier to understand.

Donna takes the time to understand a child’s individual strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that any gaps in their knowledge are addressed before building on those foundations and developing their skills further. Her patient, encouraging approach helps children grow in confidence as well as understanding, which is so important when tackling a subject as demanding as English.

She covers both English Language and Literature and has a real understanding of how the two complement each other. She recognises that strong language skills are essential to analysing literature and answering exam questions effectively, and she works on developing these skills alongside the subject content. She breaks down questions and exam expectations into manageable steps, helping Austin understand not just what is required, but how to approach his answers successfully.

Since starting lessons with Donna, we have really valued the care and thought she puts into each session and the way she adapts her teaching to Austin’s needs. It is reassuring to know he is receiving such focused, knowledgeable and encouraging support as he works towards his GCSEs.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Donna to any parent looking for an experienced, dedicated and supportive English tutor.

Donna was really helpful as she made my learning both enjoyable and effective, especially making my lessons feel comfortable rather than stressful, which is what I needed during my GCSE period!

Donna made me feel at ease from the start, especially as I ask a lot of questions. Donna had so much patience for me.
