While completing my final year of my level 8 bachelor's degree I decided to get some Irish grinds from Brandon to help me with my TEG exam which I needed to pass in order to get into the PME. Having not spoken Irish since secondary school I was very anxious in the beginning but Brandon’s patience and encouragement really helped me during the lessons.

He plans each lesson according to what topics you want to focus on and after each lesson sends on notes which really helped me in terms of the TEG exam. I would highly recommend Brandon to anyone wanting to do the TEG oral or just brush up on your Irish skills.

Brandon helped me improve my Irish greatly last year when I came to him looking for help to pass my TEG exam. I hadn’t spoke Irish for years I was very nervous as I couldn’t remember much of what I had learned over the years.

As soon as I spoke with Brandon I realised that going back to learn Irish again wasn’t as intimidating as I thought it would be, at the beginning he gave me vocab and answers to questions that are common in the TEG exam as the weeks went on I was able to have a proper conversation with him through Irish and felt very prepared for my exam. I couldn’t recommend Brandon enough, he was patient and very encouraging and being able to do the lessons on zoom makes it very easy to organize a time and date.

Having decided to go back to do primary school teaching,
I enlisted Brandon's help to get my Irish back up to scratch.
I hadn't spoken Irish really since school (almost 18 years ago), so I was pretty nervous about the prospect and knew I had a lot of work to do.


Brandon made the whole process very easy and enjoyable.
He was very friendly and encouraging, especially in those earlier sessions when the conversations as Gaeilge were tough.

He was so professional and welcomed any questions I had.
He also tailored the session to whatever I wanted to focus on most and supplied really helpful notes afterward based on what we had covered.

I decided many years ago that I would like to be a primary school teacher. However, Irish is a specific requirement, a subject I found it difficult throughout secondary school even though I enjoyed it.
I knew I was going to need to improve my Irish ability as the requirements for a MA in Education requires a result of 65% or higher in the TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge) PME (Primary Masters in Education) B1 exam. I began searching for help online and that’s when I discovered an advertisement on Gumtree for grinds in Irish for the PME, posted by Brandon Foley.
Before my first lesson, I was nervous and trying to gather any words at all I could remember in Irish, petrified I would be expected to speak in Irish, a language I could barely remember being out of school for 5 years and not having spoken a word of it since then. In short, I was absolutely panicking! Then, Brandon popped onto the screen.
I was met with kindness and support, which continued throughout all my lessons. Brandon has the ability to teach all types of people, he focuses on how you learn and what works for you, something I imagine many people need. He helps you to write notes that you will actually remember and not some random, long-winded phrase that you will only remember for a short amount of time. He then emails you the written notes and a voice over for pronunciation- a lot of material for a small price.
Not only is Brandon a great Irish teacher, but he delivers the classes in a way that it’s as though you are practicing with a friend.
If you are considering Irish classes for any reason, Brandon Foley is the person to go to. As I mentioned above, I struggled with Irish, but after classes with Brandon I sat the TEG exam and received 71% (65% is required). I think that statement speaks for itself.
