About Caroline
About Me – Who I Am and Why I Teach I am a Doctor of Mathematics and Education with over 25 years’ experience helping students achieve their academic goals. Alongside my work in education, I am an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning consultant, applying mathematics and problem-solving skills to real-world challenges in industry. My journey into teaching began when my own children were young, and I had the opportunity to teach at several prestigious schools. I discovered a genuine passion for working with young people — helping them to excel academically while building confidence and a love of learning. Although my professional work keeps me connected to the latest advancements in technology, I continue to tutor because I enjoy the energy, curiosity, and drive of students. Staying involved in education allows me to remain in touch with the evolving world of schools and to support students as they navigate both academic and personal challenges. I have also travelled extensively and lived in Asia, Australia, and America. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong affinity for different cultures and greatly enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds. I believe that understanding and appreciating different perspectives enriches the learning process for everyone. Outside of work and teaching, I am a keen sportsman. I compete at a high level in running, cycling, and triathlon — disciplines that, like mathematics, require focus, resilience, and a commitment to continual improvement. Through both my professional and personal experiences, I aim to bring a dynamic, global perspective to my teaching, helping students not only succeed academically but also develop skills and confidence for life beyond the classroom.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching With over 25 years of experience and a doctorate in Mathematics and Education, I offer expert tutoring tailored to the needs of each student. My approach is structured, engaging, and results-driven, designed to build deep understanding and lasting confidence in mathematics. Techniques and Methodology: I take a personalised approach, carefully assessing each pupil’s strengths and areas for improvement. I combine traditional problem-solving techniques with modern methods, encouraging logical thinking, clear expression, and exam-focused strategies. I place strong emphasis on building a solid foundation, regular practice, and developing critical thinking skills that extend beyond examinations. Typical Lesson Length: Lessons are usually 60 to 90 minutes long, depending on the student’s needs and focus. Sessions are intensive yet supportive, ensuring steady progress without overwhelming the pupil. Qualifications and Experience: I hold a Doctorate in Mathematics and Education and have over 25 years' experience teaching pupils for GCSE, A-Level, 11+, Common Entrance, and Scholarship examinations. I have successfully prepared students for admission to many of the UK’s leading schools, including Eton, Winchester, and Wellington. Who the Lessons Are For: I work with pupils aged 8 to 18 across all ability levels — from those preparing for highly competitive entrance exams and scholarships, to those seeking extra support at GCSE and A-Level. Whether aiming for top grades or entry to prestigious schools, I tailor my teaching to help each pupil achieve their full potential.
