About James
Like many of my students, it seems I have always loved watching films. I feel very fortunate that I have been able to turn that love into a teaching career and sometimes actually directing, writing, and producing short films and documentaries. I have to admit that sharing my knowledge with film students in the US, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for 20 years has been fulfilling, but I also feel that I have learned much from my students.

Film is business but also one of the most important art forms. How does the artist manage within this commercial industry?
