About Akshara
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor with extensive experience preparing students for the 11 Plus and 13 Plus entrance exams, with a particular focus on reading comprehension, creative writing, and analytical skills. Over the years, I have helped students develop not only the technical aspects of writing such as structure, grammar, and vocabulary, but also a genuine love for language and literature. My lessons are designed to inspire curiosity and confidence. I guide students through how to read deeply and think critically, teaching them to interpret meaning, recognise tone and technique, and express their ideas with precision and flair. I have a strong record of helping learners excel in both creative and academic contexts, fostering an understanding of how to craft thoughtful, original responses under exam conditions. Outside of tutoring, I have a lifelong passion for romantic and lyrical poetry. I have always found joy in exploring the emotional depth and musicality of language, from Keats and Shelley to modern poets who echo those timeless themes. Even as a student, I could never resist annotating poetry, filling margins with thoughts, questions, and flashes of inspiration. That same passion now fuels my teaching. I encourage students to engage personally with literature, to annotate boldly, and to discover their own voice through close reading and creative exploration. My approach blends academic preparation with creative enrichment, ensuring that every student gains both the skills and the appreciation that make English such a powerful and rewarding subject.
