About Natalia

Natalia Nguyen is a proud first-generation, multidisciplinary creative and entrepreneur, and a proud Mexican American, Asian American, and Queer Woman. She is open to opportunities in building community, networking, and creativity.

Her rewarding accomplishments include: REACH fellowship; alumna, curating an art exhibition with Future Leaders of America; studying at UCSC in the Everett Program at UCSC; and starting Flor Y Mar Agency.

When she is not working, she spends time with her loved ones, explores the outdoors, surfs, travels the world, and cooks a feast in the kitchen for her family and 18-year-old puppy Mojo.

About the lesson

Multimedia

-Demonstrate tools step by step on screen, then have the student repeat the same task
-Give short creative challenges (a 15-second video, a one-page graphic) with clear constraints
-Do critique sessions: show what works and what doesn’t in design, pacing, and sound
-Build a portfolio piece with each lesson so progress is visible

Freelancing Practices

-Role-play client scenarios: discovery calls, pricing conversations, handling scope creep
-Review real contracts, proposals, and invoices together
-Have students draft a pitch and a rate sheet, then refine them with feedback
-Cover finding clients, setting boundaries, and managing time with practical templates

Growing a Business

-Use the student’s own business (or a sample one) as the working case study
-Teach frameworks like SWOT, the marketing funnel, and customer personas, then apply them right away
-Set 30-day action plans with measurable goals and check in on results
-Practice analyzing competitors and spotting gaps in the market
