About Joshua

I'm a film and TV composer and orchestrator, and a Guildhall School of Music and Drama graduate. I've spent the last ten years working in the industry, and I've been lucky enough to contribute to projects like Deadpool & Wolverine, All Quiet on the Western Front and Battlefield 2042.

Along the way I've worked with large orchestras, including the LA Philharmonic and the London Contemporary Orchestra, and spent time in recording sessions at Abbey Road. I've learnt a lot from the people around me, and I enjoy passing on what I've picked up.

My lessons are friendly and relaxed, whether you're just starting out or already writing your own music. We'll work at your pace on composition, orchestration or preparing scores for real players, and focus on whatever you want to get better at.

English

I teach what I do for a living. You'll learn how music is written, orchestrated and prepared for real recording sessions, not just theory.

What we can work on

• Composition: melody, harmony, form and finding your own voice
• Film scoring: writing to picture, themes, pacing and sync
• Orchestration: writing for strings, brass, winds and percussion, with good voicing and balance
• Score prep and copying: clean, professional scores and parts that players can read
• Feedback on your own pieces: honest, practical notes you can use straight away

How lessons work
One-to-one online lessons, shaped around your level and goals, from complete beginner to advanced. I can work across time zones, so lessons can fit around your schedule.

Who it's for
Aspiring film and game composers, songwriters who want to arrange for orchestra, producers, and students preparing for university or conservatoire applications.

Message me with what you're working on and what you want to achieve, and we'll build a plan from lesson one.
