About Emily
I'm Emily and I'm currently on a placement year working as a research microbiologist. I am also a Biomedical science student at the University of Surrey.
I have always had a passion for biology and all things science since starting secondary school, I love the medical and human aspects of biology looking at how our bodies work and how we interact with the world around us. My experience at sixth form was obviously affected by covid however this means I quickly got used to self-teaching and online lessons, on the lead-up to my A-levels I would run revision zooms with my class to go over the content and any other worries. I was an extremely dedicated student all through my GCSEs and my A-levels which made me able to achieve my dream grades (8's,9's and A*s), I was by no means a gifted child but I believe that with enough hard work anyone can get those top grades, I am a testament to that.

We decide on a topic a student wants to cover before our lesson. During the lesson itself, we will go over the topic in detail, focusing on areas the student may feel less confident in. I like to tailor lesson styles to students' wants and needs, this means if you are a visual learner or you have other preferences I can tailor the lesson to how you want to learn. After going over the topic, for the rest of the lesson I will focus on trying to help you apply the topics we've covered using my own knowledge of what is covered in the exams and using a wide range of exam questions. We will return to the topics we cover over multiple lessons as knowledge checks. This will show your progress and the confidence you have gained!
Most importantly I am here to increase your confidence in the subject, so any questions or learning or revision tactics you want to try, ill be happy to include them in our lessons. typical lessons are 60mins.
