About Katherine

I am a final year medical student at UCL with an iBSc in Surgical Sciences. I have a vast range of teaching experience, from helping prospective medical students to teaching younger years at UCL. I enjoy teaching as it is immensely rewarding to see them my pupils their goals. Exams can be stressful and sometimes take away from the joy of learning. As a tutor, I aim to foster my students' intellectual curiosity and support them in a holistic manner. The benefit is twofold; students who are passionate about learning tend to avoid burnout and do better in their exams and beyond. I completed the UCAT successfully; I was in the top 2% of all candidates and I believe that this was due to the revision techniques that I used. I will share these and work with my students to develop methods that work best for them to ensure exam success. Outside of medicine, I am a keen cricketer and I enjoy music - I play the piano and I sing. My work-life balance has been critical in avoiding burnout during medical school and I am keen to pass on my advice about this to my students.

About the lesson

I am enthusiastic about teaching and am keen to pass on the knowledge I have acquired to prospective medical students. The UCAT is challenging as often students will not have taken exams in this style before, but I am confident that the techniques and training that I can provide will boost their skills and enable them to take the exam with ease. In terms of my methodology, I strongly believe that lessons should be tailored to a student's specific learning style and requirements. I will determine this prior to starting lessons through discussion with them. Communication between a student and tutor is critical to success and I will encourage my student to give feedback on my teaching style so that I can mould it to their needs.
