About Niamh
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the moment a student realises they are capable of something they previously found difficult. For me, education is as much about building confidence and curiosity as it is about achieving good grades, and this belief has shaped both my academic studies and my approach to teaching.
I graduated with a First Class degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Cambridge and have over three years of tutoring experience, supporting students from Primary through to A Level.
My degree gave me a strong understanding of how students learn, which I combine with practical tutoring experience to make lessons engaging, effective and tailored to each individual. I have supported students in English, Sociology and other essay-based subjects, including helping one student progress from a C to an A*.
Alongside tutoring, I worked as an Outreach Worker at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, supporting prospective students with university applications and admissions preparation.
I pride myself on being approachable, patient and encouraging. My aim is to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, challenging themselves and developing the confidence to succeed independently.

I am a First Class University of Cambridge graduate in Education and Psychology, with over three years of tutoring experience supporting students from Primary through to A Level, including Oxbridge admissions preparation.
My degree gave me a strong understanding of how students learn, from cognitive development to evidence-based teaching approaches, which I apply directly to my lessons. I believe the best tutoring builds confidence, curiosity and independent thinking, rather than simply memorising information for exams.
My lessons are personalised to each student's needs, combining guided discussion, retrieval practice, interactive activities and exam-style questions. For GCSE and A Level students, I focus particularly on essay structure, critical analysis and exam technique, while with younger learners I incorporate creative and play-based approaches to make learning engaging.
I have experience tutoring English, Sociology and other essay-based subjects, helping students achieve significant academic improvements, including supporting a student from a C to an A*. I have also worked in Cambridge University outreach, supporting students with university applications and admissions preparation.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, with flexibility depending on age and learning needs. I offer both online and in-person tutoring in London, creating a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and challenging themselves.
