About Sam
I am a graduate in Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, where I achieved first class honours. I'm particularly interested in Ethics, Political Philosophy and where philosophy can branch out into other disciplines, such as literature. Having tutored full time since leaving University, I have amassed over one hundred hours of teaching experience.
I take a personal and enthusiastic approach to teaching. Can teach between 1-2 hour sessions. I have experience teaching across age groups and ability levels, from year two phonics and Maths up until giving personalised Philosophy Seminars to Grad school students. I also have experience teaching Philosophy A level, as well as formal logic at an Undergraduate level.
Moreover I understand that everyone has individual needs and preferences when it comes to learning, and thus I am more than happy to adapt the style of lesson to you as a student, rather than impose what works for me onto someone else!

The lesson will take a focused and personal approach: once we identify together what you want to work on, I will prepare materials for an in-class discussion.
I find a back and forth approach, rather than a lecture, is where one-to-one learning can really shine. Hence, I like to bring materials which we will go through together, and begin a discussion of what we are reading/analysing.
For Maths, where this is trickier, I enjoy providing a worked example question at the beginning of the lesson, then going through a few questions in the topic together, and ending with the student attempting some independent practice.
