About Rachel
Hello! I am Rachel, I am 24 and studying my Masters degree at SOAS in the History of Art and Archaeology of East Asia. I have always loved learning languages, starting with Mandarin from the age of 3, followed by French and Spanish aged 11 and 15 respectively. I also spent a year at university studying Russian. I enjoy the freedom that learning languages allows you; the ability to communicate comfortably in other countries. I also recognise that Mandarin is an increasingly useful language to know with regards its growing economic, political and social sphere of influence.
I am also an artist, I paint pet portraits part-time. I have two cats and two mice whom I adore.

I will take a student-specific approach to teaching. I will first assess the needs of the student, and cater my teaching to their needs. I taught English as a foreign language to two students during my time in Taipei and have extensive experience of studying foreign languages (French, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin), so I understand the process from the student's perspective. I think the ideal lesson length would be an hour, and no more than 90 minutes. I am happy to teach people who are in all levels of pre-university education, primary school to sixth form.
