About Emma
I would consider myself to be a creative person with the ability to think outside the box (or inside if the case may be). I have a drive to succeed and eagerness to learn new skills with a firm belief in continuous professional development to ensure I am the best I can be in my professional field.
I believe I am a confident, friendly, approachable, compassionate and empathic individual with a passion for working with children and practicing child centred approaches to make their childhoods memorable, Fun, educational, exciting and meaningful.
I understand children to be curious, independent, strong and capable beings that need to be empowered by the adults in their lives to reach their full potential with focus on their welfare, needs and interests.
Over my 4 years of study and 800+ hours of recorded practical work placements and my current positionas a preschool teacher and room leader, I have gained confidence and knowledge in many competencies and disciplines including:
Aistear, Siolta, Children's Rights, Inclusive Practices, Creative Practices, Interdisciplinary Care, Positive Dispositions, Learning Through Play, Early Years Regulations (and other relevant policy documents such as First 5), Child Development, Child Centredness, Mindfulness, Risky Play, Outdoor Play, Approaches to Education (such as Reggio Emilia), Leadership, Management, Planning, Reflecting, Evaluation, Intergenerational Practices and many more.
As I emerge into the professional field I look forward to working with experienced professionals and continuing my learning through practice and communication with these experienced professionals. I am excited about what the future will hold.
Future Thoughts?
Over the past 2 or 3 years we have found ourselves immersed in the digital world and have relied massively on technology during the pandemic. Because of this, and a module I have studied in my final, I have a new found interest in the futures of care and education and have been researching ideas around social robotics. I am considering taking a Masters in this area, which is very exciting!
