About Hannah

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a recent graduate in International Relations from King’s College London, and I’m passionate about helping students feel more confident in their studies.

Throughout my degree, I developed a strong interest in subjects such as History, Philosophy, International Relations, the Middle East and English Literature, while building extensive experience in research, academic writing, critical thinking and presenting ideas clearly. I particularly enjoy taking complex topics and breaking them down into simple, understandable ideas.

I have also had the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds. This summer, I worked as an Activity Leader with Oxford Summer Courses, supporting international students aged 18–24. This experience strengthened my communication skills and taught me the importance of being patient, approachable and adaptable when working with different individuals.

I also completed the competitive University of Oxford UNIQ Law programme, where I studied areas including Human Rights, International Law and Criminal Law. These experiences have given me a broad academic foundation and a genuine enthusiasm for learning and education.

As a tutor, I want to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence. I understand that subjects can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to make learning clear, engaging and manageable.

Whether you are looking to improve your grades, strengthen your essay writing, prepare for exams or simply feel more confident in a subject, I would be delighted to support you and help you reach your goals.

My approach to tutoring

I believe the best lessons are structured, engaging and tailored to the individual student. Rather than simply giving students information, I aim to help them genuinely understand a topic, build confidence and develop the skills to work independently.

I begin by understanding each student's goals, current level and areas they find challenging. I then adapt my lessons accordingly, breaking complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and encouraging students to ask questions throughout. I use discussion, questions, mindmaps, presentations, examples, practice tasks and constructive feedback to make lessons interactive rather than simply lecture-based.

For essay-based subjects, I place particular emphasis on developing clear arguments, strong essay structure, critical thinking and the ability to use evidence effectively. I can also help students improve their writing, organisation and exam technique.

Lesson structure

The first lesson with me will be free of charge so that the student can understand if my teaching methods are right for them. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can adapt the pace and structure depending on the student's age, level and individual needs.

A typical lesson may begin with a short review of previous material, followed by an introduction to the main topic. We would then work through the topic together using explanations, examples and questions before applying the knowledge through practice or discussion. I would finish by reviewing the key points and identifying what the student should focus on next.

My aim is for every student to leave a lesson feeling that they understand something more clearly and are more confident than when they started.

My qualifications and experience

I recently completed a BA in International Relations at King's College London, where I developed strong skills in research, critical analysis, academic writing and presenting complex ideas clearly.

My degree included studying the following modules:
- International Relations Theory
- Conflict and Diplomacy
- Global Politics
- War and Society
- Gender and War
- Conflict and Security
- Research Methods
- Religion and Politics of the Middle East
- Conflict and Security in the Middle East.
I also completed an independent dissertation requiring extensive research, analysis and academic writing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Before attending university, I completed the University of Oxford's competitive UNIQ Law programme, studying areas including Human Rights, International Law and Criminal Law.

This summer, I worked as an Activity Leader with Oxford Summer Courses, supporting international students aged 18–24. This further developed my ability to communicate with students from different backgrounds, explain things clearly, build positive relationships and create an encouraging environment.

Although I am new to formal online tutoring, I bring a strong academic background, a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a patient, supportive approach. I am committed to preparing carefully for each lesson and adapting my teaching to what works best for every student.

Who my lessons are for

My tutoring is structured for students studying History, International Relations, English Literature and Philosophy.

My tutoring lessons are suited for GCSE and A-Level students. I can also support university students with developing academic writing, essay structure and analytical skills.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to be a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence. Every student learns differently, so I believe in adapting my approach rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
