About Chamiah
I proficient knowledge in various SEN conditions, particularly ADHD, ASD, and dyslexia, I bring a unique blend of experience and empathy to my teaching approach.
My journey into teaching was prompted by a deep passion for empowering students and fostering their academic growth. With hands-on experience and dedicated study, I've developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by SEN students.
From struggles with focus to difficulties grasping the curriculum, I approach each student with patience, understanding, and a commitment to their success. I am deeply passionate about teaching, specifically core subjects like Maths, English, and Science.
As an LSA at Wimbledon College from 2020-21, I supported year 7 boys with ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia, participating in all their lessons and showcasing adaptability and flexibility.
I have now been freelance tutoring for 4 years specifically working with young people aged 10-16yrs with ADHD and other learning difficulties. I support students with everything from learning to read from the earliest stages, to getting through their GCSE’s and passing with flying colours.
Additionally, growing up with an ASD mother and siblings has further shaped my understanding and empathy for SEN students. I understand the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and understood.

In my teaching approach, I prioritise practical and visual methods, drawing from my experience as an LSA in a mainstream school system, and freelance tutor with 4 years experience.
I tailor techniques such as visual and practical learning and whiteboard use to support SEN students, with breaks for focus. I recommend session lengths based on age and needs usually between 20mins and 1hr.
My educational background includes 11 GCSEs, 3 A-levels, 2 Diplomas, and a First-Class Bachelor's degree. Growing up with an ASD mother and siblings equipped me with confidence, patience and empathy in working with SEN students. I'm comfortable tutoring students of all academic levels, from primary to A-level.

Chamiah is calm, patient and also makes learning fun!
She is also really flexible and as supportive as she can be with any changes to sessionsChamiah has been great with my daughter, she has really connected quickly and made the lessons interesting so she wants to go to them. She has already started noticing a difference in her science gcse class, finding that she knows what is going on and that’s after only a few lessons. Really happy to have found Chamiah, thank you!
I wanted to write a review for Chamiah because she has been a patient, kind and most importantly, incredibly effective tutor for my daughter who has just passed her English GCSE re-take with the support of Chamiah. We are thrilled... and really grateful that we managed to find Chamiah who was absolutely brilliant. I honestly can't recommend her enough.
