About Fatima

I hold a First-Class Honours BSc in Sociology from the University of Manchester, and the years since have been spent putting that training to work in classrooms, in curriculum design, and in published writing on education. I do not approach Sociology as a body of facts to be memorised. I treat it as a discipline of thought, a way of reading society with precision, and that is exactly how I teach it. What distinguishes my tutoring is the perspective I bring from working on the other side of education. I have developed curricula, studied how examiners actually award marks, and written publicly on how schooling shapes the way young people think. This means I understand not only the content of a syllabus but the logic behind it: what an examiner is really looking for, why certain answers score and others stall, and how a student moves from competent to exceptional. My teaching philosophy is built on three principles. The first is diagnosis. Before anything else, I establish precisely where a student is losing marks or confidence, because vague teaching produces vague results. The second is clarity. Sociology is full of dense theory, and my job is to make it lucid without making it shallow, so that a student can explain Marxism or Functionalism in their own words rather than reciting a textbook. The third is independence. My measure of success is not how much a student relies on me, but how capably they can think, argue and write on their own by the time we finish. I work with students who are aiming high and with students who are simply trying to find their footing, and I take both ambitions equally seriously.
