About Ruby
I have recently completed my music degree with first class honours after also completing a year at a conservatoire on the vocal studies course. I specialise in classical contemporary singing/ opera and composition. I am also interested in contemporary and experimental repertoire and have enjoyed and have experience performing jazz and musical theatre. I have Grade VIII on Violin and Grade VI on Piano, and with my music degree, I hope to bring what I have learnt to help others with their music theory and confidence with their musicianship. I have worked with children’s choirs, children's art clubs and music workshops, and have taught music theory to adult students. I perform frequently, both solo and as part of a choir, performing my own compositions, known repertoire and premiering new works by composers. I am keen to bring my knowledge of and passion for music, classical singing, the many brilliant techniques that I have learnt, music theory and musicianship, focus on improving confidence when performing to help others achieve their aspirations as musicians.

We will explore exercises and repertoire that will help increase range, increase strength and stamina of voice, work on breath control, projection, clarity and vocal agility. No voice is the same so therefore I will adapt each exercise to cater your needs and goals. For those interested in classical and opera training we will look at the text and language, discussing the pronunciation and importance of story, strengthening language and stage craft skills. I feel that it is important to incorporate elements of theory into practice and so I will be including fun exercises to improve theory knowledge throughout the lessons as well as sight singing.
