About Penny

I am a first-generation college student who has navigated the educational system without prior guidance, which has given me a unique perspective and drive to help others. I completed community college in just two years before graduating with honors from a four-year university with a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I am now a second-year graduate student pursuing my Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology, set to graduate in May 2026, with plans to also become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Throughout my journey, I’ve gained valuable experience navigating scholarships, grants, financial aid, and other funding opportunities, and I understand firsthand the challenges students face in these areas. My academic background, personal experiences, and passion for helping others allow me to provide practical guidance and support to students navigating their own educational paths.

About the lesson

As a college prep tutor, I specialize in guiding students through the entire admissions process, including resume writing, college applications, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. My approach is personalized and focused on organization, clarity, and highlighting each student’s unique strengths. In a typical session, I help students brainstorm, structure, and refine their application materials, providing constructive feedback to ensure their voice stands out. I also offer advice on crafting compelling personal statements, tailoring resumes, and navigating the complexities of financial aid and scholarship applications. What sets me apart is my ability to combine educational expertise with a comprehensive understanding of the college admissions process, empowering students to confidently present themselves and maximize their opportunities. These lessons are ideal for high school students preparing for college applications and looking to secure financial aid and scholarships.
