About Sandra

My name is Sandra and I moved to Québec from Sweden in September of 2022. I moved here to continue my career in artistic swimming as well as experience a new country and its culture.

English has always been a big part of my life, and for the last 12 years I have spoken it daily. I have studied English for over 15 years and done a lot of work in English. I have successfully completed a whole college application in English, resulting in acceptances to two prestigious colleges, containing SAT and English proficiency tests. I obtained a score of 125 on my Duolingo English Test (can be compare with a score of 97 on the TOEFL iBT) for my college application.

I have a passion for teaching and I would love to one day in the future pursue teaching as a profession.

About the lesson

As a English as a Second Language speaker myself, I know the struggle that ESL students go through, as well as tips and trix to help surpass these challenges.

My methodology is highly personalized. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to submerse oneself into it as much as possible. Alongside submersing into a new language, it is also about opening one's mind to the possibility that one can learn a new language and seeing the benefits of obtaining the knowledge of multiple languages. By doing this, the process of learning becomes faster and more fun, and its supposed to be fun!

I am a very structured and organized person, which translates into my teaching. I am excellent at structuring and creating a plan for my students, in order to help them maintain a sense of clam in the knowledge that they will be able to complete the task within the timeframe they are given, without stressing.

A typical lesson would consist of us first geting a overview of the students position - what they find easy and what they find challenging. Following, we would make a plan together to help the student feel comfortable and confident with how we will work towards their goal. Afterwards, we would start with the tasks that the student find less challenging, to gain confidence, and as the lesson progresses, we would start tackling the more demanding tasks.
