I am a fluent Irish speaker who completed both my primary and secondary education through Irish. This background has given me a strong command of the language and a clear understanding of how Irish is taught at school level. While in secondary school, I supported younger students through tutoring and informal study sessions, helping them with classwork, homework, and building confidence in spoken Irish. This experience developed my ability to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and work patiently with younger learners. I take a professional, organized, and student-centered approach to tutoring. Lessons are structured, tailored to each student’s level and goals, and focused on steady progress and confidence-building. I place particular emphasis on spoken Irish, grammar, and exam or oral exam preparation where required. My approach to tutoring is student-centred and confidence-focused. I tailor each lesson to the individual learner, their level, and their goals, whether that is improving school grades, preparing for exams, or building confidence in spoken Irish.
I use a mix of techniques including:
Conversational practice to build fluency and confidence, clear explanations of grammar and sentence structure, vocabulary building through practical examples, support with homework, written work, and exam preparation, and oral exam practice for GCSE and A-Level students.
I aim to make Irish feel practical, approachable, and enjoyable rather than overwhelming.
Lesson structure and length:
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. Lessons usually include:
A short recap of previous material
Introduction of new content or focus area
Guided practice (speaking, writing, or exam questions)
Time for questions and feedback
Lessons can be adapted for shorter sessions if needed, especially for younger learners.
Qualifications and experience
I am a fluent Irish speaker who completed both primary and secondary education through Irish. This background has given me a strong command of the language, familiarity with the school curriculum, and a natural understanding of how Irish is taught and assessed.
While I do not hold a degree in Irish, my full Irish-medium education and fluency allow me to confidently support students at school level and conversational learners.
