About Hope

My name is Hope Weaver and I am a licensed teacher, certified in Elementary Education K-6, Bilingual Education and Spanish Education K-12 here in Colorado. I am offering homeschooling and tutoring services in both Spanish & English for all students K-8 at my school Hopeful Horizons Academy. I have experience teaching in public education in 5th & 6th grade in Colorado and am familiar with the local & state curriculums and standards.

About the lesson

Since I realized I wanted to work with youth I have been exploring what that looks like and the different settings that make this possible. While living and teaching in Bolivia I discovered a passion for South America and the Latin American culture. Since then I have taught in local schools and guided for an outdoor adventure program. I have worked in Mexico, Peru, Cuba and Ecuador as an International Educator and ESL teacher, I have worked in Disaster Response and led groups of young adults in the reconstruction of damaged homes and schools.

In my position as a Wilderness Therapy Guide, I am a certified Wilderness First Responder and also hold certifications in CPR and First Aid. I enjoy working out in the backcountry and navigating the intricacies of socio-emotional learning for youth.

I have led groups of students in the reconstruction schools in Belize, spent time teaching in parts of China and Ghana.
In my most recent position as a Dual Language teacher in Colorado I had the opportunity of working with students from very diverse backgrounds and demographics. The rich perspective that my students offered to me as a teacher and each other in our classroom, created an expansive environment for learning that curriculum alone could not have accomplished.

There is much we can learn from each other. I believe in the shift in perspective that happens as the world becomes bigger and similarities among widely differing views begins to emerge.

It is experiential learning, coupled with academic instruction that I believe to be the most effective in my teaching. I'm looking forward to working with you!
