About Homero

I’m a Food Technologist from Uruguay, currently living in Edinburgh and working in the whisky industry as a Distiller. But if you ask me who I am, I’m someone who loves the process of turning ideas into reality, whether that’s a high-quality spirit, a productive industrial plant.
My Journey So Far
Before coming to the UK, I spent over 8 years in the industrial trenches of South America. I worked as an Operations Director in the meat and charcuterie industry, where I didn't just manage machines—I managed people, budgets, and the complex chemistry of food production.
Why I’m here
I’m not looking to give you a traditional lecture. I’m here to exchange ideas. I want to talk to people who are curious about how the world works.
We can dive into Chemistry or Physics by looking at how they apply to a distillery or a factory.
We can practice Spanish by discussing business, culture, or something else.
We can "change ideas" about leadership and how to manage teams in high-pressure environments.
My next chapter takes me to New Zealand in July for a Master’s in Agribusiness Management. My ultimate goal is to take everything I’ve learned globally and bring it back to South America. I’m driven by the idea of creating circular systems, food production that involves the community and prioritises sustainability. If you’re interested in the future of food and how we can produce it better, we’ll have plenty to talk about.

About the lesson

Practical Science and Language Support from an Industry Professional.
I am a Food Technologist currently working in the Edinburgh whisky industry as a Distiller. I have a very strong background in Physics and Chemistry from my university studies and over 8 years of industrial experience. I am looking to help anyone who wants to make these subjects clearer and more practical.
My Industrial & Managerial Background
Before moving to the UK, I gained extensive leadership experience in Uruguay, specifically in the charcuterie and slaughterhouse sectors.
Operations Director: I managed large-scale industrial operations, overseeing production lines, quality control, and teams of over 40 people.
Technical Expertise: My work involved complex chemical analysis, food safety protocols (HACCP), and process optimisation in high-pressure environments.
Bilingual Tutoring (English & Spanish)
I offer my tutoring services in both English and Spanish.
For Science: We can conduct the entire lesson in English to focus on your coursework, or in Spanish if you are looking for a bilingual challenge.
For Spanish Learners: As a native speaker with a high-level professional background, I can help you with everything from daily conversation to "Business Spanish" for industrial and managerial roles.
