About Erin
I’m an educator, writer, and lifelong lover of stories. I earned my MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University and have worked as a classroom teacher, tutor, and published writer. My professional writing includes personal essays and film criticism, and I enjoy helping students discover their own unique voices on the page.
As a former 5th grade English Language Arts teacher, I’ve worked with students of different learning styles and abilities, helping them build confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking. I believe learning should be engaging, supportive, and even fun, and I strive to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.
Whether we’re tackling homework, preparing for an exam, strengthening reading comprehension, or developing creative writing skills, my goal is to help each student gain the tools and confidence they need to succeed—not just in English class, but as thoughtful communicators for years to come.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to meet their individual goals, strengths, and learning style. Whether a student needs help improving reading comprehension, writing stronger essays, building grammar and vocabulary skills, preparing for exams, or developing confidence in creative writing, I create engaging lessons that make learning feel approachable and rewarding.
As a former 5th grade ELA teacher, I understand how to break complex concepts into manageable steps while keeping students motivated. My background as a published writer and NYU-trained dramatist also allows me to help students develop a strong, authentic writing voice—not just complete assignments.
Lessons may include:

* Public speaking and presentation skills
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and collaborative. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and discovering their own strengths.
