About Tina
I am a former college professor with 15 years worth of experience teaching technical and research writing courses to first year students. I've been dedicated to using creative teaching methods that foster active learning, critical thinking, and collaboration. I adapt my approach to fit course goals, making sure students understand literature deeply and see its relevance in broader contexts. My classes explore various nonfiction genres, allowing students to experiment with different storytelling styles and work towards publishing their pieces. I also emphasize a detailed feedback and revision process to help students improve their writing and reflect on their work. Additionally, I've been involved in piloting Studio courses to support students from diverse backgrounds, participated in yearly assessments, curated publication selections, and managed a work-study student as a co-editor for the award-winning literary journal What Was Oft Thought (2022-2023).

I am a hands on instructor. I like to work with my students to identify meaningful topics/question, work through a series of exercises to narrow and sharpen ideas. When providing feedback, I engage in extensive commentary focused on development of ideas, paragraph organization, and then best methods for revision.
