About Niamh
I trained to be a dancer full-time at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham. My performance history includes dancing on the Royal Opera House stage with both the Bolshoi and Marinsky ballet companies, as well as being selected to perform alongside the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
I was appointed Head Girl during my time at Elmhurst and went on to gain the highest distinction in a Level 6 Trinity Diploma in Professional Dance as well as a first-class bachelors degree in Arts from the University of Nottingham. I was also awarded the prestigious 'Best Dissertation' prize for my final thesis which explored the impact of perfectionism on young dancers.
I have been teaching for around seven years now. I taught RAD syllabus grades at the prestigious Susan Robinson School of Ballet for three years, before taking on private students.
My Aunt was the late Susan Robinson, a renowned ballet teacher who was awarded a Fellowship by the Queen, the highest award possible, for her services to dance teaching. It is from my Aunt, a woman who trained hundreds of dancers that went on to join the ranks of the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet, amidst many other companies, that I learnt how to train dancers and achieve maximum results.

My methods are targeted and encompass the whole body. My skill set:
- Pilates, strengthening and conditioning as crucial supplementation to ballet (otherwise known as PBT)
- Balanced flexibility and strength training to prevent injury whilst increasing turnout range and extension height
- Holistic resilience and confidence training to combat performance anxiety/ ‘stage fright’ and perfectionism
- Pointe work, foot and ankle stability training
- RAD syllabus (all grades)
- DBS checked and first aid trained
I offer ballet coaching at both an advanced pre-professional level as well as to students pursuing ballet purely as a hobby who are keen to improve their technique.
Having been selected and trained by Lynn Wallis, the former head of the RAD, for the official filming of the Grade 3 and 5 syllabus videos, I know exactly what the RAD faculty expect of students in order to receive high marks.
A snippet of my own dance successes include the All England Young Ballerina of the Year Award, full marks in my RAD syllabus grades 5,7 and 8 and my time spent performing with the Bolshoi, Marinsky and Birmingham Royal Ballet companies.
I am based in Surrey and can offer lessons in person or online.
I hold a First Class Liberal Arts BA (Hons) from the University of Nottingham, receiving the coveted 'Best Dissertation' award for my final thesis which explored the psychological impact of perfectionism on young dancers.

Deadly! Niahm's lesson was amazing. Her diligent, constructive and extremely helpful remarks, combined with creation of great atmosphere at the lesson thanks to her positive personality made her the perfect teacher for me.
