About Lauris

I am a British Business English Language Tutor and Executive Communication Coach. My qualifications include an MBA from Warwick Business School, a BSc (Hons) from University College, London, and a Level 5 TEFL qualification. I have been 'teaching, coaching and mentoring' informally over 20 years.
What makes me different from many English teachers is my professional background.
Before becoming a Business English teacher, I spent more than twenty years working as a senior management consultant with international organisations across banking, financial services, technology, healthcare, government, and energy sectors. I regularly facilitated workshops, interviewed senior stakeholders, and presented recommendations to executive leadership teams.
This experience allows me to bring real-world communication skills into my lessons. Students learn not only grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing but also how to speak and listen effectively in meetings, create presentations, succeed in interviews, manage negotiations, as well as networking situations, and to communicate effectively with international colleagues.
I believe that adults learn best when lessons are practical, relevant, and engaging.
Every learner has different goals, so I deliver learning programmes that focus on the skills most important to them. Whether a student needs to improve fluency, prepare for IELTS, succeed at university, advance their career, or communicate confidently with international colleagues, I adapt my teaching to support those objectives.
My lessons are interactive, supportive, and designed to build confidence alongside language ability. I use a combination of formal lessons as well as topical discussions, exercises and role play.
