I offer tailored online tuition in Philosophy and Religious Studies for GCSE, A Level, undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as expert Oxbridge admissions mentoring. Every lesson is adapted to your individual goals, whether you're aiming for top grades, developing essay-writing and critical thinking skills, or preparing for Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests and interviews. As a former Oxford lecturer and admissions tutor with over 25 years of university teaching experience, I know what examiners and admissions tutors are looking for. I combine academic rigour with a supportive, engaging teaching style. Lessons focus on developing analytical thinking, essay-writing, argumentation and exam technique, while Oxbridge applicants receive specialist guidance on personal statements, admissions tests and interviews. Typical lessons last 60–90 minutes, with structured feedback and personalised study plans to ensure steady progress.
Recommendations

Daniel led modules on Nietzsche, and the philosophical analysis of love, while I was an undergraduate philosophy student at the University of Hull. This was 15 years ago, but his insights and engaging teaching style have stayed with me since. This was particularly true when it came to Nietzsche - a famously misunderstood philosopher. I feel grateful that due to Daniel’s teaching, I have a working understanding of some of Nietzsche’s ideas. I would have no hesitation in recommending Daniel as a teacher.
Daniel is a fantastic teacher. He has a unique ability to lucidly explain complex ideas in a way applicable to reality and in a way that is personal to you. There have been numerous times when I've struggled to understand something, and Daniel has found a way of understanding my perspective and what exactly I'm struggling with, and then expressing the problem in a way that makes it totally comprehensible to me.
I couldn't more strongly recommend Daniel as a personal tutor on Superprof.Daniel was my professor and tutor for much of my university course.
As an expert in his field, he was extremely knowledgeable about his areas of specialisation. I was particularly interested in existentialism and Nietzsche, and Daniel’s guidance was invaluable in helping me develop a deeper understanding of these subjects.
His teaching ability was not limited to advanced material. Looking back at the introductory philosophy classes he taught me, I can now appreciate how skilled he was at making complex ideas feel accessible without oversimplifying or reducing them.
Daniel was also kind, approachable, and genuinely funny, which made him an excellent person to learn from. I am very grateful for the support and guidance he gave me throughout my degree.Daniel was an excellent lecturer and tutor to me when taking philosophy modules at university. I found his approach to teaching highly complex topics very engaging; he really helped me grasp topics where others had left me more confused. His academic accomplishments (e.g., on Nietzsche) and intellectual rigour also shine through in his teaching.
Highly recommend taking Daniel up on his services.View more recommendations
