Hello! I’m Tonya, a passionate English and History educator with over 10 years of teaching experience in both traditional and homeschool settings. As a former public and parochial school teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Education, I have extensive experience in curriculum development, personalized instruction, and student-centered learning. As a former public school and homeschool educator with over 10 years of experience, I specialize in teaching English and History to middle school students in a way that is personalized, engaging, and adaptable to individual learning needs.
My Teaching Method & Techniques
I believe that every student learns differently, and I structure my lessons to match their unique learning styles—whether that’s through interactive discussions, visual presentations, writing exercises, or hands-on activities. Since I have worked extensively with students who have learning disabilities and social anxiety, I focus on creating a supportive and confidence-building environment that encourages students to excel at their own pace.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is designed to be engaging and structured with:
A warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge
Main instruction tailored to the student’s preferred learning style
Interactive exercises, such as reading discussions, writing prompts, or history analysis

I also provide practice exercises, but I believe in quality over quantity, so my assignments are designed to reinforce concepts without overwhelming students.
