About Emily
As a former teacher, I absolutely love teaching and sharing the joy of learning with students of all ages. I learned Spanish formally at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and then I build my language use through daily formal and informal practice with students and parents from Central and South America in the high school in which I taught. I have taught bilingual English and Spanish literature classes, ESL for k-8, and taught adults English as a second language in a free night class program that I created. I am skilled in instruction, in language, and in creating a love for learning.

I provide interactive and fun ways to learn language for students at all levels, and create tailored lessons based off of an initial needs assessment and conversation for language goals. I build phonetic knowledge and then use that knowledge to teach writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills. I use lots of songs, word plays, and relationship building to boost language retention and make language learning fun!
Activities include shared reading with pre-taught vocabulary, discussion with language supports, multimedia listening practice, and multi-genre writing practice. I teach for all levels with varying levels of support based upon need assessment.
