About Simon
I’m a New Zealand-registered teacher with experience teaching IELTS, Academic English and ESOL at both university and secondary-school level. I have worked with international students from a wide range of linguistic and academic backgrounds, and I hold a Master's degree in Educational Technology, a CELTA, and official IELTS teacher training.
I particularly enjoy one-to-one tutoring because it allows me to focus closely on an individual student’s goals and give the detailed feedback that is difficult to provide in a large class. I aim to make lessons focused, demanding and useful, while creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
For IELTS students, my goal is simple: identify what is preventing you from achieving the score you need and help you make measurable progress in those areas.

I am a New Zealand-registered teacher and former university IELTS and Academic English instructor with experience teaching international students at both university and secondary level. I hold a Master's degree in Educational Technology, a CELTA, and have completed official IELTS teacher training.
My lessons are practical, structured and tailored to each student’s current level, target score and timeframe. I begin by identifying the specific areas limiting your performance, then build lessons around those weaknesses rather than following a generic course.
For IELTS Writing, we focus on task response, organization, coherence, vocabulary, grammar and developing clear, well-supported ideas. For Speaking, we work on fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, extending answers naturally and responding confidently under exam conditions.
Lessons are normally 60 minutes and include guided practice, clear explanations and detailed individual feedback. My aim is not simply to practice IELTS questions, but to help you understand exactly what is holding your score back and how to improve it.
Lessons are suitable for teenagers and adults preparing for IELTS, particularly students who want focused, high-quality coaching in Writing and Speaking.
