About Dylan
I love teaching because I love to learn; I want to share this passion. I did not love exams or secondary school education because they only encourage memorisation. Rather I educated myself later. Thus by encouraging a love of learning, I guarantee that I can make those exams merely a hindrance on the route to a lifelong passion for learning; or even a way of proving to yourself that you can learn anything.
I hold an MSc in theoretical physics (Merit) from the University of Edinburgh and currently work as a freelance writer.

The best way to teach anything is to make the subject interesting. I will encourage you to forget the tedious world of exams and grades. My belief is this: if you understand the subject, you can pass any exam.
I like to encourage discussions in my sessions to make the students feel at ease, but also to encourage them to see that learning is not bound into arbitrary subjects. That it is a fun and deeply rewarding skill.
Lessons are tailored to each student. And I like to really emphasise to students that there is nothing to fear - ask any question, get things wrong, make a silly mistake. This is the best way to learn. In fact, it is the only way to learn. I also believe that a great way to learn something is to teach it. So I encourage the student, when she or he is comfortable, to teach me about things we have learnt.
Typical lesson will begin with 15 - 20 mins of revision (mainly talking through a subject, going over the key points, highlighting weak areas, etc.), followed by some quick questions. Then the student leads: we might introduce a new subject or revise some. Or if we are near to the exams, we might work through some past-paper questions.
