About Oberon

I’m a nineteen year old University student at Victoria University, and while my major is media studies, Art History has always had a special place in my heart.

I studied French Art History in NCEA Level 2, and it was by far my favourite class of all time. My favourite painting is “The Raft Of The Medusa” by Théodore Géricault. I even have a wall hanging on my wall of it.

Level 3 Art History had me focusing on Early Modernism, where I spent most of my time using any and all loopholes to write about my favourite painting alongside Boccioni and Kallwitz.

Art History lead me down several loopholes, including the entire history of Napoleon, yet another dive into the drama between F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, and of course, readymades.

I love guiding people in this area of study, and helping them develop an interest in the subject beyond just the end of year exams. I know many, many little facts about artists and their artworks, as well as history related to each piece.

About the lesson

Hi there!

My name is Oberon-Jake, and I have three open spots available for NCEA Levels 2 and 3 in Art History in 2025!

I specialise in French Art History, and Early Modernism. I am especially strong in both areas, and was offered a Scholarship in Art History at VUW in 2024.

My lessons are quite simple. First, we’ll spend the first lesson on understanding what you as the student are looking for, and what you specifically need help with. After that, each lesson will be tailored to your needs and area of study in the subject. From Marie Antoinette, to Jacques-Louis David, all the way to Salvador Dalí, I’ve got you covered!
I’ve also dabbled in the Late Renaissance period in NCEA Level 3, and am willing to helo a student in that area as well!

The deadline for these three spots is April 20th 2025, but I may be willing to take on more students in July to help them prepare for their exams as well!
