About Averie

Bonjour! My name is Averie and I am a native English speaker with 8 years of experience studying and teaching French language. I first started my journey in junior high where I fell in love with France's rich and beautiful culture and language. From there I continued studying and learning until I graduated from college with a degree in French language. After graduation, I lived in Southern France for a few months, traveling and exercising the skills I learned in the real world, before finally settling down in Colorado. I have a strong passion for learning and teaching, a passion I hope to pass on to encourage students to become more curious about the world around them.

About the lesson

I currently am available for beginner lessons, parents looking to introduce their children to another language, or elementary-high school level looking for extra help with their studies. Depending on the student's current level and experience with Francophone language and culture, I'll start with basics such as the alphabet, basic conjugation, and engaging with them on what they are passionate about and how to translate that into learning French. From there we'll expand on concepts they're interested in and what skills need more support. I typically begin a tutoring session with a light exercise in vocabulary and a discussion about what the student learned in the last session and what they're looking to improve upon in the current session. I try to tailor each session to each student's needs and interests. I approach all my tutoring sessions with excitement and passion for learning, I love to teach and share my passion for France's rich culture and history and how to connect with it via language.
