About Mathilde
I am a registered nurse, born in France but who grew up in the UK for 10 years. I lived in France for 15 years before moving back to England where I live now. I am therefore fluent in both languages and enjoy sharing my knowledge to help other improve their speaking competencies.
I have a bachelor's degree in nursing and a diploma of mental health.
The bachelor's degree includes teaching competencies as it is a part of our job to share our knowledge and assess one's abilities.
I lived in Australia for 2 years where I provided French and English classes to students on a weekly basis. Some of my students took end of year exams at school/university and each of them passed.
It's important for me to enjoy my lessons and ensure that my student does to. I try to make the hour feel more like a nice chat rather than a study session, whilst ensuring that progression is always made.

I have a student-centred approach, meaning I ask the student to tell me what it is they want to focus on and what they truly want to gain from their sessions with me. My first sessions usually consist of assessing my student's already existing abilities. That way, I am able to personalise each lesson and ensure it will be as beneficial as possible to them. I ask for regular feedback to be able to make any appropriate changes according to how the student is feeling and progressing. I invite them to come with any homework and/or questions they have so we can work on them together.
I believe that to progress in a language effectively, it is important to speak it as much as possible, so I try to make my sessions as interactive as possible.
Typical lessons last about 1 hour as more usually become tiring and won't be beneficial. This length is flexible and can be modified and the request of the student.
I teach any age and adapt my lessons depending.
