About Sophie
Salut! I graduated from Trinity College Dublin and UNIGE (University of Geneva) with a 1st in Classics. I lived in Geneva and attended a French school at a young age. I have also been giving private lessons in French since 2015 at a Primary School. Since then, I have taught French via MyTutor and Superprof for over 10 years. I can teach beginners and intermediates of any age, Common Entrance, and GCSE students, and love working with my students to focus on their strengths and weaknesses.
Currently, I live in Brighton with my partner and tutor alongside my job as a mental health youth support worker and as a Latin Teacher as Brighton College
Please get in touch if you are looking for a tutor!

Bienvenue, My classes normally consist of quickfire vocabulary tests, 10 mins of speaking, 10 minutes of listening, 10 minutes of grammar, and 10 minutes of comprehension/translation work.
I understand the format of the French Common Entrance, IGCSE and A-Level clearly. The essays need to meet certain criteria, including a range of vocabulary, grammar and phrases. I would primarily demonstrate to my pupils a checklist of verb tenses and conjugations that they need to put in their essays. Next, practise! Of course, many pupils struggle with listening and oral. This is all about confidence and concentration. I include in all my lessons 10 minutes of listening practises and 10 minutes of oral, focusing on the topics required in the syllabus.
They usually last one hour. However, I can focus on areas of weakness. Building my students' confidence is key.

I would struggle to find a tutor that is more dedicated to their students than Sophie. She is just great; she doesn't just look at the task ahead but also goes above and beyond through understanding how to get the best results from her students. He has not only helped improve my French but also my drive and focus to do and be the best that I can be.
Sophie commits herself to the task at hand and is consistent and reliable. A very good tutor I will definitely be using again
Me and Sophie went to school together and i can honestly say she is a fantastic teacher. I strongly attribute my GCSE and A level language and Philosophy marks to Sophie's excellent tutoring. She dedicated a huge amount of time to helping me during her own exams.
She is dillent and organised, and an extremely approachable person. I guarantee she will make any student feel comfortable and relaxed in order to get the most out of their learning. Overall, she is an excellent candidate for a tutor if you are looking to achieve fantastic exam results.Sophie has been tutoring french to my little sister who is 13 years old once/twice a week for the last month. Not only has she helped Emily regrow her confidence in speaking the language but Emily actually seems to enjoy learning it for the first time! Her marks have been consistently improving since we started the extra lessons.
This has been a challenging period for us since lockdown and we are so grateful to Sophie for all her help.
Merci beaucoup!View more recommendations
