About West
My teaching approach brings French to life through the power of cinema, media, and cultural exploration. I use French films, short clips, and audio resources to create an immersive learning experience. Watching and discussing scenes helps students hear real-life accents, phrases, and emotions in context. This makes grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation more meaningful and easier to remember. We read aloud, act out dialogue, and apply grammar through stories and conversation. I believe language is best learned when it feels alive—when it connects to emotions, culture, and identity. I'm a French tutor with over 9 years of experience and a PhD in Quebecois Literature and Culture. My passion lies in bringing the French language to life for children aged 8 to 14 through performance-based learning. I specialize in using dramatic play, improvisation, and script reading to make lessons joyful, active, and engaging.
Whether we're pretending to be chefs, travelers, or storybook characters, every session is designed to teach foundational vocabulary, pronunciation, and simple grammar in ways that feel natural and fun. I believe that play is a powerful tool for learning, especially when it’s paired with meaningful character development and storytelling.
Students not only learn to speak and understand French—they also grow in confidence and imagination. My classes often feel like stepping into a theater where language becomes an adventure. Through guided scenes, role-play, and expressive dialogue, we explore how to express thoughts, feelings, and creativity in French.
